Character Name: Casey 'Chuck' Charles; Domino
Sex: Female
Age: Eightteen
Occupation: Rollerskate Waitress
Canon or Original: Original
Allegiance: None - just out to make a mockery
Physical Description:
She has blonde, shoulder-length hair which (while Domino) is worn in messy pigtails and is in a tight high-ponytail for work. Casually she wears her hairdo either 'out' or in her work style. Her big eyes are affected by complete heterochromia; her left eye is a clear, bright yellow-amber and her right eye is a hazy blue-grey. Her eyes seem to have a constant shine to them. Her lips are small but plump and her nose unobtrusive to her face. She has a light caucasian complexion on a very slight hourglass body. She is slim all over with a waist that is barely visible, her most noticable curve are her perky A-cup breasts.
She prefers skirts, and loose skirts at that but her shirt style is much more varied. It's most common to see her in a short skirt and t-shirt wearing joggers and long socks. As Domino, she of course has a different style mainly because she has an actual 'uniform'. She has a tight red tube top, a blue short pleated skirt and green gloves that end just under her shoulder. This is matched with steel-plated ankle boots and a knee-length black cape attached to the back of the top and to the gloves. She also wears a navy blue domino mask across her eyes with the sockets whited out (thus, obscureing her irises) and has yellow utility belt around her waist.
Personality:
Chuck is a generally happy sort of girl with a positive outlook on life. Always the optimist, she can and will find the good in any situation. She is diligent and gets the job done, making her a great employee. Her default is to me nice to people, but she can still fall into the rut of being 'snobbish' towards people who are 'below' her - she's not above laughing at others misfortune. She always seems close to her friends, but not close-knit. Rather she floats around the edges pushing everyone closer to each other. Her happiness is what shows itself most often, and her body language always reflects this even though it never seems to reach her lips. She moves as bubbily as her personality. When something makes Chuck angry she tends to fall into what can only be described as a 'temper tantrum', complete with yelling, sobbing and broken sentences. Since she can turn most things into something good, getting Chuck angry is the equivilant of getting other people very angry (hence the over-the-top reaction). A sad Chuck is a rare Chuck. Her blues are almost transparent, hidden only by a pout and fat drops in her eyes. Luckily, this seems to convince most people. Just as many other girls her age, she can sit with her friends and gossip for hours over some celebrity boy in a magazine, declaring fleeting crushes to be 'true love'. Chuck loves the idea of a Knight in Shining Armour coming into her life in some mysterious way and sweeping her off of her feet.
Domino, on the other hand, is a very mocking individual. She has a realistic-bordering-pessimistic view on life and humanity. This can either lend her a dark demour or a laugh waiting to happen. What is probably her only constant between civilian and mask is her diligence and aim to always get the job done. She is very desicive when goal setting, not that she doesn't know when to give up on a lost cause. Behind her mask Domino can treat people in a manner that reflects how she actually thinks of them. In general (but of course every individual gets their own reaction) she responds to the police force with pity, the vigilantes with disdain and the villians with black humour. A general reaction to meeting or remeeting anyone is to greet them with suspicion. Domino doesn't exactly get happy or joyful about things, that emotion is replaced with raw humour. Indeed, she thinks there is little to ever be happy about. Any positive emotions are in the form of humour - whether that be laughing at someone or an idea, making a mockey or a large dose of black humour. In the environment Chuck grew up in, it is understandable to see how Domino thinks anger and sadness are interchangable. Once she is angry it is simple her it to turn to sadness (and visa versa). Due to her control over her emotions, when someone or something can make her angry or sad it makes her that to an extreme level. When Domino becomes both angry or sad she almost shuts down, becoming unnaturally calm, but anger leads to a more powerful calm while saddness is a more empty (BSOD) calm. Domino finds it hard to fall in love, her disdain taints any possibility of a connection on that level. If it were to crop up she wouldn't be adverse to it, but she has a careless attitude to the matter.
History:
♦ ♦ ♦ The Facts Were These...
CASEY CHARLES was born on the thirty-first of October, nineteen years prior to present. After trying for a child, her parents NED and CHARLOTTE CHARLES were estastic with their baby girl. Both parents were rather stereotypically 'maternal', Charlotte only more so because Ned ran the family business. but they both adored her and together they formed a perfect loveing family. As a child she made friends easily; with a trusting smile and outstreatched hands it was easy to see why. For her first few years of primary school she attended Gotham's local. She made steady progress in class. But once she was ten years of age ("Ten and a half." she'd protest) her parents decided that Gotham was no place for their sunny little daughter to grow up.
♦ ♦ ♦ One Would Rage Yet the Other As Timid As A Mouse......
Eight years prior to present, Casey was sent to a boarding school near a small town where her maternal great-aunts lived. Her great-aunts, Rachel and Sarah. had very contrasting personalities. Rachel was the elder and the assertive of the two while Sarah was the youngest and the submissive one. But for all their contrasts they also perfectly complimented each other, two parts of one whole. It was from these guardians that Casey unconciously learned the attitude that sadness and anger where interchangable - what ever made Rachel angry would make Sarah upset, so it was easy to draw similarities between the two emotions.
♦ ♦ ♦ In A Boarding School Not Far...
Attending the all girls boarding school was a critical part of hardenings Casey's character. It is also where she gained the nickname 'Chuck'.
At the school the students tended to call each other by their last names. Thus she was commonly called 'Charles' and from their came the common nickname for Charles - Chuck - resulting in the nickname she would keep for years to come. The nickname probably only stuck because of the first group of girls she became attached to. Even at their young age they were very tomboyish, aggressive and not afraid to hit or kick. In fact, since she stayed with this group of girls for approximately three years, she still remembers most of their amature fighting. Five years prior to present Casey returned to Gotham and her parents for the summer holidays. When she returned form these holidays, she found she had drifted from her old group.
♦ ♦ ♦ Is There Ever A Right Place Right Time...?
During her stay in Gotham, she met a boy at one of the local haunts. His name was Julian and he had floppy hair of the brown-blonde variety with rectangular wire framed glasses. When they literailly bumped into each other, he had shyly smiled before apoligising and taking his leave. Casey had to take it upon herself to coner him once he'd left his mates behind and ask him to hang out with her over the holidays. They had shared a few passionate kisses and she had even met his friends, but the relationship never even officially ended. Casey just returned to her boarding school at the end of the holidays without giving Julian a direct means of contact. She had been dissappointed when she'd had no word from him, she'd wondered if he might be persistent. Her dissappointment vanished once she had found out why he hadn't tried to find her: shortly after she'd left Julian had been in the wrong place (between a criminal and a cop), at the wrong time (right after the cop had pulled the trigger). Dealing with this grief was the first and possibly largest step in her control over her emotions.
♦ ♦ ♦ She Would Be Slowly Transformed...
Returning to the boarding school it felt natural to fall in with a new group. They were a much larger group than her old one, but she nestled her way in their after joining the school's dance troupe. It was due to dancing, a few mandatory dramatic arts lessons and her own whiles that she managed to be such a good actor. She found it easy to settle into a lull with her knew crowd, but everyday as she spoke and moved with her 'friends' she could tell something was wrong. She didn't connect in the way they seemed to, sometimes offhand comments drew the worst looks. The matters they were so concerned about seemed just so trivial to Casey.
♦ ♦ ♦ Bad Boys Breed Bad Breaks...
Four years prior to present Casey spent the summer holidays with her parents in Gotham again. Typically, she yet again met a boy. This ones name was Otto, he had blue dreadlocks and an ever present lollipop in his mouth. They went out to quite a few places and Casey got to clearly see the dark side of Gotham that had been carefully hidden from her. Otto took her to all kinds of places, his 'kid girlfriend' was always allowed to tag along where ever the older boy went. But she had enough commonsense to know when not to tag along. One of these bouts of commonsense was the last time she ever saw Otto; when he and his mates had gone out that night Otto hadn't returned home. He had turned up dead, killed by one of Gotham's many villians. It was the grief from this incident that sealed her emotions up for good. Upon returning to the boarding school life continued on as usual.
♦ ♦ ♦ Domino Mask...
Three years prior to present Casey returned to Gotham. Half a year from finishing her third last year of school she manages to take the trip into Gotham to don a dark-blue mask and a handmade costume. This is the first time she takes up the mantle 'Domino'. Sick of the hype over vigilantes and villians she decides to throw herself into the fray in hoping to exaggerate their ever move and show them how ridiculous they look. A reporter had once managed to catch up with her in these early days and asked her all about how a 'caped crusader' fights crime and what Domino thought of it all. With little to no pause she had answered "If old men ran around in costume beating each other up anywhere else they'd be arrested for causing a distubance to the public peace and then sent to a mental institution. But by some twist of fate Gotham appears to function as a mental instituion its self, nevermind Arkham."
♦ ♦ ♦ Work Upon Work Upon WORK...
Approximatley two and a half years prior to present Casey returned to live with her parents, completeing her senior years in Gotham. By this time Domino was a name in the underground. For the two years consecuative Casey studied hard and tried her best at her senior studies and exams while Domino took on a whole variety of jobs; stealing and stealing back, tracking peole down and hiding them. Sometimes she would take up two opposing jobs, tricking a boss into letting her steal for them, only to offer her services to the company she just stole from and offer to get their goods back. After a certain incident, she even moved onto bodyguard or assassin.
♦ ♦ ♦ For Sometimes It Is Never Enough...
Ever since the arrival of Batman, Gotham City had been a well known ground for caped vigilantes and masked villians. Unfortuantly, this also bread a special breed of people who just weren't equipt to handle being either. One year prior to present Domino was walking about Gotham's streets behind her mask when she came upon an unusual sight. There where two bodies, strewn either side of an alleyway. In the middle was a man in a lycra-looking suit, a superhero suit so generic that is probably came straight out of a costume shop. The man held someone up by the throat and laughed as he choked. The caped man shouted that that was how justice felt. Domino had noticed the caped man's hand seem to come out of the other's stomach and seeing the dark stain there she correctly reasoned that the criminal had been stabbed deep. The caped man, in a manner which obviously show his delusional state, alternated between laughing and calling himself a hero. Domino had found it easy to sneak up on him from behind and had an odd sense of calm when the time came to slit his throat. But she had muttered to herself as she killed him; "Well, at least you're honest."
♦ ♦ ♦ We'll Be Back After These Messages...
Over the two years Domino gained contacts. People in big businesses or niche businesses. Though for the first year and a bit of operating as Domino she stuck to her commonplace weapons, soon she had enough contacts that she could commission special weapons to be made for her. Thoguh these new special weapons were additions, not replacements, to her old ones. Aprroximately 3 months prior to present Casey graduated from Gotham's Upper High School and she is currently taking a gap year to sort out her priorities. Domino also utilises this gap year, doing what she does best: making a mockery of people.
Other: Her favoured rude gesture is, as opposed to sticking up her middle finger, flipping her pinky finger.
Weapons: A combanation of household weapons and company tailored weapons. The househeld weapons include (but are not limited to); a kitchen knife, a meat tenderiser, a meat cleaver, a lighter, string, a screwdriver.
