Character Name: Jane Doe
Sex: Female
Age: Unknown
Occupation: None
Canon or Original: Canon
Allegiance: Herself / Evil
Physical Description: Jane’s physical appearance is by far her most dangerous weapon. She is able to ignore her bodily needs for days on end in order to partake in her favourite pastime, people-watching, and after hours of intensely studying another person’s movements and mannerisms Jane is able to almost perfectly mimic that person. She puts incredible stock in body language and the slightest movements and commits them inherently to memory. When she feels comfortable enough mirroring another person Jane is able to shift her bodily appearance through various means to fit theirs; in short, she is an identity theif. She pays no heed to gender, body type or sex appeal and, simply put, a person is worth being as long as she is not left with being herself.
In her raw form Jane is unremarkable at best. Simply a blank human canvas devoid of curves or distinguishing features. Having been several years since she was forced to assume her original look however, Jane remains at present trapped inside the identity of a 19 year old girl she met – and murdered – in Gotham’s chasmic underworld. Her bleached blonde hair is half grown out and hangs limply around her face, tortured and snarled as no one is able (or wishes) to get close enough to her to tend it. Her face is gaunt and pale, with full, blood-heavy lips which she has a habit of biting and heavy-lidded eyes which make her seem drugged up even though she is quite coherent. Her current body is skinny and frail, with bones that jut, ribs that show and a head that seems too large for its frame. There is a madness behind her watery grey eyes that seems to seek weakness in others, and it is a brave soul who can look into this spotlight and not recoil.
Personality: Obsessive-compulsive in the strongest sense of the word, Jane is a bruise on the skin of society that runs deep into its nervous system. At times she seems perfectly capable of having a conversation and at others she is completely and utterly consumed with madness. On her good days she is compliant, even pleasant, but there is always the threat of insanity behind her eyes that lingers in the wings, ever waiting for opportunity. When she is in one of her ill states Jane alternates between utter silence and rambling in jibberish; evidence that Arkham Asylum is working its evils on what remains of her free mind.
Before her incarceration Jane was a logical thinker and regular criminal. She stole just to amuse herself and murdered when she felt the need for a change of style. She has great problem-solving abilities and above-average intelligence, but there is a fine line between brilliance and madness.
History: Born Alice Gamble (not that she remembers it), Jane lead a rather good childhood as the third child of a middle-class family who was down on their luck due to the Depression. She made good grades in school, got, along well with her siblings and loved her parents, thinking that life was what you made it and you could make lemonade out of lemons and still smile for it. At the age of 13, that all changed. The family was in a car crash, smashing into the side of one of Gotham's many tunnels head-on. The sole survivor, Alice suffered severe amnesia and to this day remembers nothing of her former, and much happier, life.
After her medical needs were seen to and her recuperation complete, Jane (as she was now dubbed) was placed in an orphanage for teenagers in the city center. After realising that her mind functioned differently to those of her contempories, Jane stole the things belonging to another girl at the orphanage and ran away. The streets were not kind to her and after several harsh ordeals she found that the pain was easier to bear if she was someone else. If one of the personas she assumed was assaulted or otherwise harmed, she simply changed who she was and lef the pain and mental scarring with the discarded identity.
In time, she learned more than just how to get along. She learned how to mimic others and then assume their identities, stealing their wallets, their cars and their clothes. A string of homicides under her belt, Jane eventually took the style of a 19 year old girl for fun. It turned out to be a mistake, with the girl – a junkie – owed people in high places a lot of money. When they caught up with Jane and were unable to differentiate between Jane and the real girl they were looking for, they injected her with a savage dose of herione to 'teach her a lesson'. An overdose saw Jane taken to Gotham General and after her emergency medical treatment a psychiatric assessment was ordered. Jane was declared mentally unsound and sent to Arkham Asylum, where she remains to this day.
Strengths: Intelligent, observant, photographic memory
Weaknesses: Insane, obsessive-compulsive, unemotional
Likes: Watching people, human interaction
Dislikes: Being alone
Face Claim: None in particular, as she changes her 'look' so often.
Sex: Female
Age: Unknown
Occupation: None
