Character Name: Dr. Harleen Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn)
Sex: Female
Age: 28
Occupation: Former doctor, turned supervillainess
Allegiance: The Joker...no matter how dysfunctional the relationship.
Physical Description:
Harley’s appearance, when in its normal and un-costumed state, is lovely but not overly remarkable. She has straight, dirty blonde hair that falls to her chin in wild layers. Her face is thin, pale, and pointed. Her eyes are a light blue. In recent times, however, her appearance hardly leans towards normal. Now, you’ll most often find her face painted a uniform white, with black lips and heavy black makeup surrounding her eyes. Her figure has always been a point of some pride. At about 5’5” she’s neither too tall nor too short. Her build is slim and curvy and she dresses to suit her figure.
Her favorite color has always been red, but since falling in with her current crowd this preference has been taken to an extreme. She is no longer seen in the blouses, skirts, and slacks of a successful psychiatrist, but in a form-fitting jester’s suit of red, white, and black. Atop her head, completely concealing her hair is a jester’s cap to match, complete with silver bells. On her feet, being a woman, she likes to wear heels. Though, sometimes, the night’s activities call for ballet flats as they are easier to run in. Her hands are gloved in red with white ruffles at the wrists, beneath these she has a lovely black manicure. Overall, she’s more pleased with her appearance now than she’s ever been. It suits her new state of mind, and compliments the style of her new companion.
Personality:
Harley's personality was changed from kind-hearted and studious working woman to crazed villainess through the influence of other crazed killers, most significantly, The Joker. She fell wholly in love with him during the long hours they talked and her obsession pushed her over the brink of madness. However other's might say that Harley was always a little off, even as Harleen. She was prone to daydream, lie, and coerce even as a child. Today, as a villainess, these things along with greed and general love of destruction play into her lifestyle. Her relationship with the Joker is a complicated one. At times, it's purely sexual, other times purely business, and still other times it's romantic and normal to an almost comic extent. Then, of course there are also the times they can't stand eachother. However, it functions in its dysfunctionality and they do get things done, much to Gotham's horror.
History:
Harley was born as Harleen Quinzel into a middle-class family in one of Gotham City’s suburbs. She never had any siblings but had several close cousins in the area and was never short of playmates. She did relatively well in school and was overall considered to be a kind girl with a caring heart. Also, because they only had three mouths to feed, her mother was frugal, and her father had a relatively good office job in the city the Quinzels were able to live a comfortable life even in some of Gotham’s harder times.
Even with all the penny pinching they did, however, college was a financial dilemma and Harleen had big dreams. She aspired to be a doctor, in psychiatrics specifically. It was her talent for gymnastics that saved her in the end and through sports scholarships and loans she was able to carry out her dreams. She was given offers to pursue gymnastics professionally but, as much as she loved it, the human mind drew her attention more fully with every passing day. She did well in school, remarkably so, and was even written up several times in local papers. After graduating, though she desired to leave the gritty city behind her, she needed to accept the first job opportunity that came her way. Her loans were looming large and her father had been forced to retire due to declining health, leaving her parents in a difficult state. This opportunity came from Arkham Asylum, a rather nasty place, more like a prison that a hospital, where the city’s wildest and most unstable offenders were placed so as to spare the lesser criminals from their mania.
She was taken on by the facility as the resident psychiatric consultant. It became her unfortunate duty to talk regularly with every raving murderer that came into the place. Many were incomprehensible, some were alarmingly lucid. She thought that these were the worst of the lot, they could speak so convincingly and so rationally…no doubt it was these skills that aided them in the life of crime that brought them here. As the weeks went on, her friends began to notice that she looked ill, that she was acting anti-social. Harleen brushed these comments away however stating that, “If you had to spend your days talking to madmen you’d lose a little sleep too!” It was not long after this that the final and irreversible change was made upon her character.
She was called in to the Asylum in the dead of night. The police had just captured a highly dangerous killer, but no one knew his name or anything else about him, and he was far too deranged for the average interrogator. She was asked to see what she could get out of him. Behind the bars was a man with green hair, a painted white face, and a blood red smile painted over deep and grisly scars. She knew he was the Joker. That night she spent five hours talking to him, learning nothing but becoming lost in his world. She returned to him the next day, and the next, and again after that. Every day for a fortnight she sat and talked with him before she went home. At the end of this period the Joker went missing from his cell in Arkham, vanishing into the night. Harleen was instantly suspected by her superiors who had been worried by the amount of time she’d spend with the murderous clown. However, when they went to arrest her, she was as gone as the villain. It was speculated that perhaps she’d been kidnapped…until the Joker’s next TV spot showed with him a painted up female jester with a vague resemblance to the bright doctor. The pair had fallen into the most twisted kind of romance, and Harleen became Harley Quinn.
Now, with her partner locked away again, Harley is venturing out on her own, wanting to make him proud of his girl.
Other:
Harley is wild, seductive, and mentally strong. She can also weild a gun and throw punches if need be. In a physical fighting situation her background as a gymnast helps her to shine. Most importantly though, she is insane. Therefore she can match wits with her psychotic clown of a boyfriend.

Face Claim: I'm really not sure yet because I've been using the cartoon character in my graphics on other sites...I'll come up with someone though...
**A Note** -- I'd like to play Harley as though she's not yet met the Joker. I think it makes sense seeing as this is DK based and when he appeared in DK no one had heard of him before. Sooo it would be his first time in Arkham. In other words, she's still Harleen. That way, we could do interview/session scenes between her and the Joker and have her undergo her transformation. However, if you'd prefer something else I'll do whatever.
